A selection of
Steve Razetti's photographs of the Himalaya and the Himalayan dwellers
are on display in the Sugar Gallery at the Brewery Art Gallery Kendal
and the exit corridor at the National Exhibition. Steve spent his first
season in the Himalaya in 1984 and has spent at least seven months a year
there ever since. He has been blessed with the company of many of England's
leading mountaineers during these wanderings. He has done many long and
adventurous treks, including Shimshal to Snow Lake via the Lukpe La in
1988, with Mike Searle and Nick Groves, and in 1991 he and Tom Gilchrist
vvere the first westerners since Wilfred Thesiger to go to Boroghil in
the Hindu Kush. |
| More recently his attention has turned to the Eastern Himalaya. With Rex Munro, he was among the first westerners to trek in the Makalu and Kangchenjunga areas of Nepal. Subsequently he has travelled extensively in other parts of Nepal (Humla, Dhaulagiri and Manaslu), Sikkim and Bhutan. His acclaimed trekking guide to Nepal was published by New Holland in October 2000. "Top Treks of the World." | |
